I got excellent grades, was in many clubs, and excelled in more than one sport. My SAT scores were not as high and I wanted them so I made up for it with extra-curriculars, community service and sports.

I just had good grades, and was in the military. You can do a tag agreement and get in with a bad gpa like a 2.00 or maybe a 2.5. I think for undergrad I would have been better of at a csu. The state schools may not have the competition or be as rigorous, but there emphasis is on undergrads, and that is just not the case with the UCs.

Computer Science, Engineering, Pre-med are all excellent majors to select here. Do NOT go here for 'business' with the intention of pursuing a job in the business field. If you want to do a PHD in Economics however, it's a good school for that. I don't know too much about the other majors.
